Minefield

His world was spinning round. The heat was getting unbearable. The sudden bursts were numbing his skin. They had said it would last only for three minutes. The beeping had been incessant. Why doesn’t he get me out of here, he thought. Those hands appeared from nowhere. A booming loud voice proclaimed yay, Microwave popcorn!

End game...

It feels kinda weird...
The taste of cold metal on your tongue.
The last thing that you'll taste...
Will be the taste of your own death.

The futility of what you wanted...
The stuff you were supposed to want.
The whole game of forever playing catchup...
The game in which you were the fat one always to be picked last.

I shot me down...
I hit the ground.
That awful sound...
My arrogance got me shot down.

The last four lines are based on copied from Nancy Sinatra's song in Kill Bill...

Goldfish syndrome

He couldn't remember anything. He had lost all his memories last night. All the birthdays and anniversaries. He didn't even know who these people were. They had just become numbers to him. He felt as if he had lost a part of his brain. If only he had backed up the data on his mobile.

Bang for your buck...

I have had this thought bouncing around in my head for months now. The value for money funda we Indians have, the "Bhaiya, theek theek lagao" syndrome, is absolutely absurd. As the price point of the stuff goes down we start haggling for a smaller share of the money. It is like we are on a conquest and that 10 or 20/- we do not pay the vendor/auto walah will actually redeem the cash splurge on some shitty "Khan" movie at PVR

The sad part is, these 10-20/- would actually make a difference between the other guy actually getting a decent meal or not. Have you ever bargained for 20/- at any of the glitzy showrooms? If they gave you a discount of 100/- did you say "No no, give another 20/- off"?

It is absurd that we get some sort of sadistic pleasure/sense of achievement from actually saving those 20/-, using it for ordering extra cheese on the next Pizza and then paying a 1000/- to the "fitness center" to burn that bloody cheese off our asses....

The bang for your buck could actually be the sound of a poor soul shooting himself! Ironic isn't it?

Driving with no brakes...

Heading towards the shining light
The one that would cure all darkness
Your life whizzing past you
The blinkers keep you on track

Alone on a crowded road
Other bots looking for their own lighthouses
Heading towards your salvation
At last you'll be able to get the answer

Pick up hitchhikers on the way
Feel alive in their presence
You ar no longer sure if you want to keep running
Blasphemy...drop them off, they are slowing you down

Stop to take a breather
Take out the plastic that defines your worth
Your royal fatness not fitting into what you want
Well burning more plastic will save your soul

And then you are in its presence
Like a deer caught in the headlights
Well what am I supposed to do now?
Look for the next flickering light and run...

Love, life and everything in between...

He fell for her 5 years ago. She no longer quickened his heart beat. He had found a new life now, a new direction. It had been fun while it lasted. It was time to move on. They were over each other, nothing lasts forever. Then he figured, it was just a job after all.

The other side

I'd rather kill myself working hard and achieve something than die wondering what could have been...

Politically Incorrect

Do you think the woman's reservation bill is a good idea? I don't think it is going to change anything on the ground. I oppose it for the same reason that I oppose the OBC/SC/ST reservation bills. I think these guys are solving the wrong problem. Just by giving the "minorities"/"oppressed sex" more visibility in various fields does not help the lady who is being beaten up every day by her drunk husband or the kid who is not allowed to go to school coz she is a girl. Also, being a woman doesn't qualify them for my vote.

I think not allowing men to stand from a constituency would be against the right to choose of the people of that constituency. Just because someone is a woman doesn't give them a purity stamp. Mayawati is as rotten as Mulayam/Kalyan singh. It is just that there are more rotten male politicians than female ones.

All this will do is give 33% of the seats to wives of politicians. Man! some times being politically correct is a pain in the ass.

Heard @ IIM

Today the consumer behavior professor cleared ALL my marketing fundas...

The pearls of wisdom -

Learning marketing is science. Applying marketing is an art. If you don't learn it properly, your application will be modern art!

Bhog le

I think Harsha Bhogle is acting like a big snob with an ill fitting hair piece. His comments especially on the associate teams are getting condescending and really irritating, but that is a personal opinion ... Maybe Akram is not that articulate but at least he tries to talk about cricket. While we are at it Mr Akram it is not "Neither-lands" it is "Netherlands" :)

***

Sometimes I feel bad for a country like England. Support for south asian countries (even Bangladesh) far exceeds the support for the home team. No wonder Flintoff was so pissed!

***

Hope Pakistan and Australia do not qualify for the next stage :) ... I think this may well turn out to be South Africa's maiden "big tournament" victory...Anyhoo gonna have lots of late nights for next couple of weeks :(

Hanging by a moment

Read this and thot....

She could no longer recognize her reflection,
She never wanted it to end like this.
Her body becoming a liability,
Her soul tired and lost.

He wouldn't mind being with her till eternity,
His heart was crying out to get her back.
He wondered if not letting her die would be selfish,
He wondered if she was no longer his to save.

They were resigned to their fate,
All they could hope for was dignity in death.
Shouldn't they have a choice of their memories,
Or should they remember each other only by the pain?

I don't know if it is OK to let go,
I don't know if you can ever let go
May be you should hang on,
Hang on till death takes the choice away
